����������� Book One, Chapter One: �The Three Who Are One!�

The Erana Martyn Yanyez De Barbudo came to the city of Cherafir armed with his good friend Capel Ironwielder, the Champion of Ivinia and Slayers of Jarin, the very creator of the legendary Jarin Slaying Rune Spade! They came seeking aid and transport for a noble and heroic venture. To deal with the evil villain Panaga was their aim. To this end Martyn had already acquired the Tongue and Eyes of a mighty Demon, which was the source of Panaga�s power. Only the Horns were needed before Panaga�s hold over the demon could be broken.

Bradlack, the stout yeoman from Fanon�s Vale, with Ganymede, a cleric of Larani, and Jordin, a bard of the college who is to return with news of the expedition (we dub thee Black Box) rounded out the party with me. I am Daniel Fichelscher, bard of the college of Cherafir, the official recorded of the saga.

Larani is the �Shieldmaiden on the Worthy Cause, Guardian of Dolithor, Protector of the Brave, Lady of Paladins, the Unwilling Warrior�. She is a War Goddess but a nice one, honest.

�The Green Swan�, a dack, with two partially dismantled talbars on board disguised as packing cases. The dack looks like a �real shit heap� and it is captained by Stinking Thrulunir. Balatar the Fish, Busurel, Piranha the Almost Dead, Barnilus the Tower, were amongst the 16 sailors.

The party arrived in Cherafir on the 3rd of Larane, 723. Garon (a wizard?) decided to accompany us after Martyn talked to Kane as an official observer of? What? He is 17 and this is his first adventure, an apprentice then.

We leave Cherafir on the 8th of Larane for Thay. That evening a strange storm, with thunder and lightning, caught up with us. I was sea-sick, Capel was very sick and even Martyn was chundering. It was so bad even some of the crew got seasick. The ship ran aground during this 32 hour storm. A dark fog descended upon the reef. We had to lighten the ship to get off the reefs. A fire was started in a cabin, an inside job. Morning came and still the dark fog was there. Martyn questioned the crew and became convinced that Dolomite the Bent lied to him. The Captain and crew want a quick hanging. He talks his way out of it, into a quick keelhauling.

The storm returned that night and I was struck by lightning. It burnt off most of my hair. Thunder and lightning, and dark fog, very strange, not a natural storm. We later found out that it had been a Harn wide storm!

On the morning of the 12th we find we have gone the wrong way and are now at Cape Horab.

Daniel, Martyn, Capel, Jordin, and Garon set out east along the coast to get a shipwright, setting out on the 13th. It started to rain on the 14th. Capel had an annoying rash on the morning of the 15th. Martyn and Capel went out scouting in the evening. They return the next day with half a dozen Hodiri. They say they can guide us for a week, until we get to the river Selina.

On the evening of the 16th there is howling around the camp, 8 or 12 wolves. Capel, Garon and two Hodiri were asleep, just not for very long. They howled for 20 minutes, and then a huge wolf walked into the camp and up to Capel. Sniffs and walks round him, turned around three times and laid down. Capel turned round three times and laid down. Then the howling started, 20 or 30 wolves� maybe, for a minute. The huge wolf lets out an eerie howl and it stops. In the morning the wolf goes hunting and comes back and pukes at Capel�s feet, but Capel won�t eat it. It accompanied us the next day (17th) when a large constrictor snake took a passing swipe at a Hodiri. The Hodiri left us at the river, on the 22nd. The Hodiri, who know Martyn and Capel, for some reason are grateful. Capel�s wolf seems to be very intelligent.

The Solori shot Martyn; they yell insults at the Hodiri. Martyn announces who he is and asks the Hodiri to leave. �I come from the South with a Sword�. Martyn is taken across, then the rest 20 minutes later. Martyn is well liked. They call Capel �Wolfman�. They think Martyn is their prophet, come to free them from the oppression of the priests of Larani and the Hodiri. The Solori are a primitive people and the Knights of Larani are of the Order of the Lady of Paladins (Martyn�s Order). The Solori killed some missionaries (who may have insulted some tribal chiefs); this launched the war 10 years ago. It got genocidal. It must stop. Martyn (or Matason) and his sword should free them. His sword is legendary apparently.

Matsom is a legendary hero of the proto-Solori giants who fought demons from the gods. Matsom locked with the devils in rift, by a plug (Melderyn). Materson will return with his sword and sweep the unbelievers from the land. Martyn is the man.

Set off on the 23rd with Solori escort, about a dozen. On the 26th we met some Knights of Larani; Martyn goes forward to talk to them, with Capel and Daniel. Seven mounted knights in full gear, plus squires and so on, for a total of 20. Martyn asked them to go, they didn�t like him but they went after he showed them his ring. They will report this to their leader.

That night Capel dreamed about a handsome man in blood drenched robes walking through Harn, leaving a trail of death and destruction. And he then dreamed it again the next night. Martyn dreams about Capel�s dream - big ridding animal and two-handed sword.

We get to Racyn on the 28th of Larane. Mayor of Racyn not impressed with Lady of Paladins Order. It�s Capel�s birthday on the 30th. The Solori leave us at the town, the wolf doesn�t. Capel has a particularly vivid on the night of his birthday, the dream that is. Capel likes it; Martyn says he enjoys it in dream. Wolf comes with. It takes 3 days.

We were expected in Cherafir. They have no knowledge of dreams and they studiously ignore the wolf. Do some research into the dream. Leave on the next day, the 4^th, with wolf. 2 days to original boat, arrive on 6th. Fix the ship in 4 days. Then 3 days back to Cherafir on the 13th. Capel still has the dream.

Research - seems to be something to do with �The Three Who Are One�. No further references. There were many (secret) conversations between Martyn and Capel. 16th Capel has a normal night�s sleep; the wolf vanished during the day. 17th the wolf reappears, throws up at Capel�s feet. Martyn and Daniel leave the room. Loud wolf howl, Capel on floor, wolf gone. Wolf leaped through window and vanished in mid-air. It has accomplished something, good or bad? Capel looks shaken.

There was a meeting with Daniel, Martyn, Capel and Kane that night. A couple of wolf howls in park that night. Did I tell you that Martyn is the Champion of Larani, hence the ring. Is that where he got his sword?

Ship ready on the 6th of Azura, arrive on the 9th at Thay. Martyn goes to the Temple. Capel goes to �the Slippers� a mostly Ivinian pub.

Leave the next day. We arrive in Lorkin on 16th of Azura.
