Book Seven, Chapter Five �A Watery Interlude�

Apparently there is an important football match today. Do we have a plan? What do you think? What will we do now? We start early, or indeed on time? What do you think? We are in Shostim on the 23rd of Kelen with Sedisi in the Chantry of the Evanescent Assembly of the Enigmas of Pele-arn. These people are fully paid up members of the Melderyn Magic User Guild.

 

Can Sir Martyn get his horseshoes of flying re-charged here? Yes. What about getting the gems for Daniel and Bowlhead mounted into amulets? Yes. Gem into the sword for Sir Martyn? Yes. But we don�t produce the gems here. These are fire wielding people in an Agrik worshipping area. These are hot gems nicked from the Church of Agrik. So on the whole it�s not a good idea.

 

Its 19:58 and we need to kill something due to the result of the football, but we have started. We leave Shostim on the 26th of Kelen. Nice try Zytsi wants his armour taken in so Aruth can wear it, 2,000d. Sir Martyn wants a few Agrikan clerical/fighting order badge, but fails so we leave on the 1st of Nolus. Sir Martyn leaves horse and Crawlie and company.

 

4th night out Aruth and Daniel hear a sluicing noise on their watch, which is the third one. It continues for some time Aruth says remains alert. Its sounds like its getting closer so we wake up the rest of the party, who have time to get their armour on. It doesn�t seem to get be getting closer. It�s to the north, and there is a source of water up in that direction. We wait and it continues for a while. Aruth walks around the camp about 40 feet out to ensure it isn�t a decoy.

 

Aruth, who has Night Vision running suddenly heads north at a brisk pace, Zytsi, who is following in the woods, gestures to Sir Martyn and follows. Sir Martyn doesn�t see this. So the rest of the party follows after two rounds, with Bowlhead carrying Daniel�s watch lantern. Sir Martyn says we move as fast as possible, which isn�t very fast. We all fail a Mentalist save and head north. Oh dear, barrel scrape, barrel scrape, that didn�t work either.

 

When we come to we are in the submarine and we are underwater and we are under control. We are in an underground completely under water filled cave with 6 female water sprites. Their home pool has been taken over by evil water sprites and they are going to command us to kill them so they can go home. Oh guess we do the evil sprites then. �We are the Burzyn boot boys and we�re going to kick sprite butt.�

 

Charge, slowly, but charge. Zytsi is the submarine captain and can�t fight out of the membrane. Bowlhead is confused as he�s never been in the submarine before and we�d never told him about it, for obvious reasons. In fact we had to remind Zytsi he had the submarine. We go, we charge into the pool and there are 6 man-sized frog-man hybrid things plus 2 sprites like creatures, not quite like the other 6.

 

Bowlhead does a shock bolt for damage. Aruth does a Triad of Lightning and we find out they are super large. They water bolt Bowlhead twice; one doesn�t get past Sir Martyn�s cancel evil essence and the other doesn�t do any damage. We close and the froggy things get in the way. Sir Martyn throws a dagger and it�s non-magical so that�s something else we�ve just found out.

 

So the frog things are demonic and do con drains. One misses Sir Martyn, two miss Bowlhead, two miss Aruth, and one hits Daniel (the attack should have gone against Aruth). Now who found out about the con drain then? Sir Martyn hit one and it noticed, Daniel hit one and vaguely noticed him.

 

The water bolts were ineffective. Zytsi threw his war hammer and killed the one on Sir Martyn. Aruth put up an Air wall and the two on him go onto Sir Martyn. Sir Martyn blinds one and Daniel hits his a bit more.

The blinded one rolled 545 to hit Sir Martyn and does nothing to him, hmm nice armour versus claws. The water bolts were ineffective against different targets this time. Zytsi throws his throw and return war hammer against the blind one and it was knocked out. Bowlhead moves to stand by the air wall so his 2 goes one on Sir Martyn and one on Daniel. Thanks Bowlhead. Daniel gets hit again. Sir Martyn kills one of his. The two sprites realise that they can�t damage Sir Martyn with their water bolts, Bowlhead and Aruth are behind an air wall therefore they both shoot Daniel and are ineffective. Zytsi throws his war hammer at the one Daniel has been hitting and it�s on big minuses but is still there. So Daniel blinds it and gives more damage but its still there but a mess. Sir Martyn now kills his. So there are two left, both on Daniel. And the two sprites water bolts Daniel, and one hits him. Zytsi throws his war hammer one on Daniel. Daniel kills his at last, hurrah. Sir Martyn kills the last one, leaving the two watery bints left.

 

They are highly intelligent are try to pull out and in spell phase a tunnel opens up, we move within 50 feet and Sir Martyn chucks an Absolution at one who fails. But they get away. Interestingly enough Aruth was healing Daniel not Bowlhead, what a healer.

 

And now Daniel disputes the crap bard description from now on.
