Introduction

Just over a month ago a group of adventurers came to the village of Fanon's Vale which was under a curse laid by an evil wizard, Panaga. The fertility of the village was dependant on an ancient Sindarin talisman, the Staff of Fanon which Panaga had stolen. The group agreed to retrieve the Staff and crossed to a strange world where, despite terrible perils, they recovered the Staff. Panaga is reported to have sworn revenge. Now read on . . .

Prologue

Strange Rescue

Part One - Drink Panaga Saga Lager!

It was a fortunate cloud bank. It had come in from the Gulf of Ederwyn and was now over the Shava Forest. Here it had found a worthwhile land to rain on. Here its waters would be used by the plants and trees to grow higher and more luxuriant. Here its waters would soon recycled into the sea again, almost as pure and clear as upon on arrival.

Not like someplaces it had heard off. Oh no. No tanneries or dyeing works here, with their stinking and discoloured wastes in need of washing away. There was no need for it to extinguish a witch or heretic burning bonfire here. No need even to clean the bloodstains from battlefields or from altars. Not even any need to wash the dirt off the shivering bodies of animals and peasants. Some of these unlucky other waters eventually reach the seas again heavily discoloured, full of minerals and various deposits, much in need of a holiday before they could return to Harn.

Below this lucky cloud bank was the Sindarin city of Elshavel, an awesome organic cityscape which blended in with the natural forests surrounding it. The rain trickled off leaves and eaves, down tree trunks and the walls of graceful buildings. Its gentle but steady pitter-patter was the only sound to break the silence of the night. Not a single torch or lantern glimmered through the everlasting rainfall. Not even from the inn where the evening had been so lively. Here the hard working Bard Daniel had at long last finished transcribing the first four books of the Panaga Saga and was sleeping the sleep of the just, or at least the totally drunk.

Book One - There and Back Again.

In which our heroes travel to the long lost city of Kiraz in search of some bits of a Demon. Unusually for this type of adventure the journey back was far more epic than the journey there had been. With some additional sidelights on the unusual behaviour of wolves after a storm.

Part Two - Blood And Souls For My Lady Larani!

This was one very cold and very pissed off cloud bank. No nice wet rain for this cloud, oh no, just snow, snow, thick, thick snow! And nowhere civilised either. No this was Azadmere in mid-winter. No chance of catching a nice little Khuzdul in a deep snow bank, oh no they are all lurking underground. The only ones that went out were the local humans, and their little ones who had great fun with snowball fights and sledging.

In the local human pub the famed bard Daniel was performing extracts from his recently completed second four books of the Panaga Saga. His favourite extracts were about the recovery of the Harp of Galeroth. It helped that he just happened to be accompanying himself on that very artefact. He was the cynosure of all eyes, and feeling very pleased with himself. He really didn�t care if it was snowing or not.

Book Five - Sleeping With The Enemy

The quest for the Harp of Galeroth starts with the search for a book. Our heroes might be seem to go slightly off the rails, but they meet an old friend and acquire someone for the bard to look down on. Someone who immediately has a bad time.

This was a cloud bank in a partying mood. No extinguishing a witch or heretic burning bonfire for this cloud bank! Its waters wouldn�t be needed to wash the blood and mud off the dead bodies of barbarians on their battlefields! It could get on with its real job of making the plants and crops grow. It had originally thought it had been destined to come ashore from the Gulf of Ederwyn but the wind had unexpectedly hung a right before it hit Cape Horab. Now it was not just over Melderyn, but over the very city of Cherafir itself. Its lightning was flashing around the dreaming spires of the College of Harpers, its thunder providing an accompaniment to the musics within.
